Meeting of NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs in Bucharest
Model NATO
Fourteen years after NATO's last summit in Bucharest, the ministers of foreign affairs of the member countries are meeting in the capital of Romania to discuss the challenges the Alliance faces today. The meeting carries real diplomatic weight, as Russia's unprovoked invasion of Ukraine is an ongoing crisis for the Euro-Atlantic area.
We at Model NATO are honored to have such a significant meeting held in our country, on such difficult topics, and we want to make teenagers aware of its importance.
The meeting takes place on the 29th and 30th of November at the Palace of Parliament in Bucharest. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg arrived in the Romanian capital on Monday and met President Klaus Iohannis. They discussed Romania's value to the Alliance, the support offered to the Ukrainian army and the openness shown to Ukrainian refugees, as well as reinforcements in the Black Sea and Baltic Sea regions and their strategic position in the ongoing crisis.
Over the two days at the Palace of Parliament, NATO's foreign ministers will discuss Russian influence on the Alliance's close partners, including Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Both days serve as a strong line of defence against Russian aggression and show the unity of NATO members in countering security threats in the Euro-Atlantic region.
